Time to Finish Up

For the last 8 days I've successfully fought off the ubiquitous end-of-August urge to buy my fall knitting projects.  This is no small feat, as I've already seen several -- read many -- projects I want to knit and new yarns I want to use.  Why put myself through 8 days of such torture?  The answer is clear, UFOs.  Three to be precise.  Three that are almost finished -- a sleeve here, a vest front there, another sleeve yonder -- three projects that I'm enjoying and want to finish, albeit now !

My strategy is one of divide and conquer.  Work for a while on one, then turn to the other, then put in a few rounds on the third -- repeat until complete.  Once I've finished my Mermaid Jacket, Maude Vest, and Top Down Cardigan I'm dashing out to my LYS for a new fall project!

Oh my goodness. Here's a big thank you for posting so many wonderful helpful tutorials on your blog.
And, we have a connection... A Capon connection. I made my first trip there in 1961 (in diapers, as my Mom likes to say). :-)
Happy Knitting! And, thanks again for all your help. I wouldn't be where I am as a knitter, without everything I've learned in knitting blog land.

Wow you are so good and do I understand correctly that you don't own a wool stash? :)

They will all be wonderful garments so I can understand wanting to get them finished. Enjoy your fall shopping!

I'm with you. I've got to work on finishing up some old UFOs too. Good luck on getting them all done.

Oh my. You're stronger than myself. I finished one UFO, but have 4 other's on sticks and The List of fall/winter projects is mounting. The only thing holding me back is my husband forbidding me to buy any more yarn. This week. :P

That's a great way to handle those UFO's... I am going to have to try that with a few that I have hanging around!

Your projects all look wonderful - the yarns and colors are yummy! :)

Ahhhh... thanks for reminding me of my UFO's. Have to get them done as well. Those garments are going to be real nice. Can't wait to see your stash enhancement.

I'm trying to finish UFO's, too. So, I'm switching between a lace stole and a wedding afghan. Right now, I'm switching off after completing 6 rows on each, but it feels strange going from 6 Addi's for the lace to 15 Boye's for the afghan. After I finish one of them, I get to go to my LYS so that I can start on the Bee Swarm shawl. 1 at a time. 1 at a time. ;-)

I really admire knitters that can juggle multiple projects, and yes - eventually get them all done! I just can't seem to do that. I loose my "place" if I put something aside for a long time. I must have a foggy brain or something.

New projects are great fun, though, aren't they??

It's an admirable strategy. I did finish one UFO (minus a zipper) before casting on for the next thing. But there's still a pile in the basket...

OH my I could have written your post with the ufo's!
Mine are a sweater for dd, a sweater for myself and another for myself that I completed, don't like, need to rip out and find a pattern to knit another with the $$ worth of bulky weight yarn. (at least it's bulky weight and will knit up fast!).
Good luck with your ufo's.
