Mystery Vacation: Day 5

Oops, missed a day!  I suppose I'll have to blame the excitement of the evening BINGO game.

This morning we enjoyed a vicious thunderstorm -- a wild adventure for us West Coasters -- from the 2nd floor porch, giving me ample opportunity to knit my toe up sock.  I'm using Ann Budd's toe up sock pattern from the Summer 2007 issue of Interweave Knits.  Ann's variation uses an Eastern Cast-On -- which I believe is the same as the Turkish Cast-On -- and a short-row heel.  Note to self, I love knitting toe up socks.  I'm also using a new yarn, Regia's Kaffe Fasset sock yarn.  The colors are everything you'd expect from Kaffe.

I love that yarn! The colours, the stripes. My MIL is a huge Kaffe Fassett fan. Maybe she'd like socks for Christmas? Thanks for the tip and the yummy picture!

now that you brought out the bingo- its got to be the Catskills!

You are in the northeast for sure... I'd recognize those blue mountains anywhere!.. I would also venture a guess that you're somewhere in the catskills by the looks of that dining hall.. but where?

Are you at Wintergreen - I think that's the name- in the Blue Ridge? I know you're not in Dewey Beach or Bethany, that's for sure!
ps nice socks.

If it looks like the Catskills but isn't, my
guess is you are on Cobb Mountain in Lake
County, Northern California, near Clearlake.
And it looks like a good time!

A bit of archive research indicates you are
at Capon Springs and Farm in West Virginia.

Well, I don't have a clue where you are, but it sure is beautiful, and it sounds as if you're having a great time. I'm loving that sock yarn...I'm such a sucker for stripes.

Are you at Forest Home? I would recognize that dinning hall a few posts down anywhere!

nona, I am trying my first pair of toe up socks with self striping yarn. Do I have to start at the same place in the yarn for the second sock or just let it fall as it may? I miss your daily swatch, but hope you are having a great summer. Georgia
