Josephine
One of the insignificant woes of empty-nesthood is the relative lack of readily available photographers. These days I either need to be up and dressed at the crack of dawn -- the nona-hubby is an early raiser -- or still be put together by the end of the day. I wonder what my young neighbor would think if I started showing up at her door step, digital camera in hand, clothed in a partially knit sweater, requesting a few shots?
This morning I rose early -- just for you -- to get this photo of my completed Josephine Top. I absolutely love it and will wear it often!
Started: | May 22, 2007 |
Finished: | July 11, 2007 |
Pattern: | Josephine Top designed by Deborah Newton. Published in the Summer 2007 issue of Interweave Knits |
Yarn: | Rowan's Cotton Glace |
Needles: | US 3 |
Modifications: | None! Since Deborah Newton is such an excellent designer with an eye for details I decided to knit the top without any modifications. For me, I could have added 1 more inch to the upper body as the top's tie doesn't quite make it up and over the ladies. But alas, the ladies are so diminutive only I will notice this fashion mis-hap. |

That's very cute. I'm in the opposite position boob-wise, so I guess I would eliminate one of the lace repeats to get the tie under them? What do you think?

Your Josephine is really pretty and she is the second one to surprise me, I did not think much of the design in the magazine but apparently Josephine is a beauty!
And I say about them diminutive ladies (I am totally with you there) at least they will never drop :)
btw: what happens to Nona Swatches? I miss them so!

This seals it for me: yours is the second Josephine I've seen and I absolutely love this top! Nicely done.

The top looks wonderful on you. Thanks for getting up early on our behalf!
You have confirmed one of my fears of becoming an empty nester. How will I document my hand knits?!

Very nice! - great minds think alike - I am knitting mine in an almost identical colour :-) but I am adding some bust darts to mine because my ladies are , um, rather bigger than yours :-)

Beautiful! I didn't give Josephine a second glance in the magazine, silly me. Now I'm seeing lovely versions all over the place, and yours is especially inspiring.

I live alone so I go to my LYS where they nicely take pictures of me so I can post them on my blog.

Lovely top! Your neighbors probably already know of your knitterly ways and would be happy to help with the proper incentive (socks all round, perhaps?)

Josephine is beautiful! It looks better than the photo in IK. Thanks for getting up early! I'm a night owl myself, and I doubt I would have been as dedicated as you.

Hi Nona
Been reading your blog for a long time--I've just become empty nest too, although I really dislike that term--maybe a contest to think of something that conveys more of the joy of it--both for our new found freedom AND the great good fortune of watching our kids turn into independent adults! I'm so excited....
Love love love your knitting writing, and knitting too....

Your top is beautiful, I can understand that you will wear this one often.

Really lovely job on Josephine - I like it in that shade of blue.

Quite lovely, the Josephine is! You might want to try the KnitFlix strategy of using a mirror for photos? This would require good natural light, though!

Mine is a pale sage green. I am halfway through the back of mine! I think yours looks great on you!
