Already A Favorite
What can I say, my seed stitch cardigan is already a favorite! The lapel collar dilemma was easily solved -- I simply picked up stitches around the neck and worked in seed stitch for about 5 inches. It's not technically a shaped lapel, but I like the casual look.

Started: | Originally started in December of 2005 and then rescued from the UFO bin October 30, 2006 |
Finished: | November 8, 2006 |
Pattern: | My own, inspired from a sweater stalked at the Olema Knitting Retreat in November of 2005. Features dart waist shaping, seed stitch detailing, a psuedo lapel collar, and set-in sleeves knit from the top down. |
Yarn: | Garnstudio Silke-Tweed; 52% silk, 48% wool; color #23 Red |
Needles: | US 4 |
Gauge: | 24 stitches and 34 rows to 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch |
Modifications: | Overall I really like the fit of this sweater. Next time I would make it 1.5 inches longer, the armhole 1 inch deeper, and the top of the sleeve 2 inches narrower -- Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda |

Love it! That little seed stitch detail on the back is sooo perfect! Collar looks fantastic. I can see how it will be a favorite. I wanted to do that kind of collar on my "Tweed," but chickened out. Now I know it works!

Beautiful! By the way - wanted to thank you for your comment yesterday. Totally inspired me to go and find myself another blanket. And I did. ;-)

Oh I like it! Daphne/Cranky sent me here because I am having problems with my Blissful Cardigan, which is a similar tailored design. The collar on yours is great - but I think mine will be more complicated, because where you used seed stitch to make a diagonal line from the button band toward the shoulder, mine called for decreases. I will probably do a few inches of rev. stst for the main part of the collar, but I won't have any turned-over part below it to make the full lapel, so I'll have to make those separately. :(

The collar is beautiful. the sweater has a real crispness to it, yet nice drape. great yarn. nona knits comes through again!

That's a georgeous sweater! I'm impressed that you were able to make up a pattern so easily- It's something I'm interested in trying, so I'm curious- do you have a yardage estimate ? Right now I just buy as close to 1600 yds as I can when I like yarn but don't have a pattern, but I think that's major overkill based on the last few I've done... is there any trick you can think of that would be a better way to estimate?
Thanks!
