Portland Yarn
The nona-family recently returned from a 4 day college trip to the Pacific Northwest. In Portland -- between college visits and a required stop at Powell's Books -- I was able to slip out and visit one of the city's yarn stores, Knit Purl. When playing tourist in a local knit shop, I like to sleuth around searching for something new or unique -- you know, a special souvenir. At Knit Purl, I found Shibui Knits yarn and patterns, which are locally dyed (the yarn) and designed (the patterns).
Shibui Sock Yarn
As for my souvenirs -- note the use of the plural -- I brought home 4 skeins of Shibui Sock Yarn along with 2 patterns, Kago and Maru. Once my Hydrangea socks are finished, I plan to knit a pair of socks featuring circles and stripes.

My daughter is going to school near Portland in Newberg, so you were in her neighborhood. Did you enjoy Powell Books? It is quite a bookstore. What beautiful yarn! I might have to make a special trip to the yarn shops next time I am up at that end of the state.

I live south of Portland, and it's a great city to visit!!! I haven't yet gone yarn shopping there, which is shame, as I can just hop on the freeway.
I'm so excited to see circles on socks!!!

Ok this has nothing to do with knitting, but i don't have your e-mail and i can't call you cause it's 8 o'clock in the morning on a sunday and you need your sleep.i just got my nutcracker parts back and i am clara!!!!!!!!!!!!! just thought you would want to know!see you at thanksgiving!

Oh! You were in Portland? I would have loved to have met you down ant Knit Purl...although college weekend tend to be taken up with, you know, college age kids that you want to hang out with, not blog-lurkers you don't know. So I guess that's fine. :O)
I haven't been to visit the store since they started carrying their own line of yarn. There are just too many LYSs in Portland. I can't frequent them all!!
