More Than Meets the Eye

What you see here is more than a run-of-the-mill sock cuff, more than the 2nd sock in my mini-masters sock study, more than a cuff exhibiting a tendency towards color pooling.  After a mere 24 hours of existence this cuff has absorbed the energy of a high school basket ball game, participated in a brainstorming session at work, made a brief appearance at a local tacoria, and viewed  Hustle and Flow -- an excellent movie by the way.  Sometimes I feel my life is knit right into the things I'm knitting.  It's the process -- with life swirling around -- that makes this cuff more than it appears.

Lawdy, I seriously need to make some progress with my socks...

Anyway, just want to ask whether you could help me out with a pattern. I've posted the problem on my blog, which you can go and see: http://numenna.blogspot.com/2006/01/back-on-knitting-front.html Thanks in advance!

The pooling looks cool! I love it when yarn is so unpredictable! Knitting on the edge;-)

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I'll pick up a finished piece, months later, and remember where I was when I knitted it -- almost like the memories were knitted right along with the yarn and dog hair.

I do the same thing - remember where I was when I knit something. All I have to do is look at the object years later and it brings me right back. Kind of like when you smell something and it triggers a memory.

I love your description! Especially because I was thinking right along those lines this morning. =)

The swirling pooling is wonderful. I know that I associate my knitted items with what I was doing/watching when I knit them. I find sometimes that a memory pops into my head when I pick up my knitting.

I have the same thing. When I pick up a piece of knitting I remember where I was, how I flet or what was going on last time I knitted it. Once something is finished and has been worn that feeling lessens but it is very strong while the work is in progress.
