A Little Joy

Throughout the morning, nona unknowingly spread a little joy to those around her.  How you ask?  Let me recreate the scene.  When I work in the kitchen I always have a dish towel hanging out of my pocket.  This morning as I rushed out the door I carelessly forgot to remove said dish cloth.  I didn't realize until I was at work -- after I had bought coffee, run an errand, and walked a busy sidewalk -- that I was sporting this new look.  As I peered in the mirror trying to convince myself that perhaps -- just perhaps -- the dish cloth looked fashionable, I happily realized I had probably given several people a good morning chuckle.

Luckily joy is reciprocal -- you give a little, you get a little.  Last night as I watched the War of the Worlds I received a bit of joy.  Rachel the young girl in the movie was wearing a fabulous sweater providing a joyful sweater stalking experience.  The front of her cardigan had 2 large cables running up both sides, the entire back was knit in an all over honeycomb pattern, and the sleeves were knit in a colorful striping pattern.  Add it to the list!

Sweater stalking brings nona joy!

Hé hé, Nona you never know, perhaps someone had a nice dishcloth stalking time, too. Anyway, that's a lovely anecdote. I'm just beginning my very very first sock and will watch your NB study closely. Merry Christmas!!

Oh we sweater stalkers are all alike! I have that stalking gene, too. I believe I inherited it from my mom. I also stalk bags, purses, skirts... this list is a bit too long. Thank you for letting me share my disorder. ;)

Sweater stalking. I've done that. I've also "jewelry stalked"--especially in movies. Sometimes you just can't help yourself!

I do that too! i actually just saw this movie not long ago b4 i read your post i knew it was the War of the Worlds. It seems like the little girl had some cool socks too? Do you just stalk sweaters? (silly question)
I enjoy your blog thanks for the great ideas!

Nona- Love your blog! Can't say I agree with you about this particular sweater, though. If you want to check out some truly amazing sweaters, rent A Very Long Engagement with the adorable Audrey Tatou. It's a wonderful story too.

He who laughs, lasts eh? So funny Nona.

I love the movie stalking. I recently admired the scarf that Scrooge's nephew wears in A Muppet Christmas carol.

hey I thought the same thing when I saw War Of The Worlds a few weeks ago... ("what a COOL sweater!!!")

I have just found your blog through various and sundry links, and I LOVE it! I am definitely going to have to do some catch-up reading. I am a new sweater stalker, but I have many cross-over skills from years of quilt stalking. It's always nice to know there are others out there.

front or back pocket? back pocket, you can pass it off like you are a bartender!! i find myself throwing the towel over my shoulder exactly like my mom always does. do we not all turn into our mothers to some extent yes i think so?

i amuse myself in class by mentally deconstructing other students' knitwear. i think it comes with the obsessive knitter territory!

Nona, did you notice her gloves too?

Hey, nona! Merry Christmas! Your dish towel story is funny! I can't say I've seen that one before, but I did once wear a pair of new jeans to church, only to discover upon getting home that I forgot to remove an adhesive strip on the back of one thigh that prominently displayed the SIZE about 10 times in a row!!! =8^O (Not something I'd EVER care to do again!!!!)

You probably know this already, but if you don't...Dakota Fanning was the actress who played Rachel, and she is a knitter, too. She knits between takes, etc, while on set.

Gotta love a knitter with knits featured in her movie wardrobe.

I always get so distracted by the sweaters at the movies, one track mind.

I love the idea of a sweater stalker, I am SO guilty of that!

Hi Nona! Not sure if it's too late to even report on this, but my Peaceful Palms are done. =) I just posted a pic of them on my site.

Have you gotten ill or something horrible like that? Hope you are well, whatever the silence. Know you are missed!
