Zone Out Knitting

It's been a very busy week -- a good, but busy week.  Tonight when all was said and done I needed to sit, watch some mindless TV -- The Apprentice -- and partake of some zone out knitting.   You know the kind of knitting I'm talking about -- no pattern to consult, no calculations to make, no notes to scratch,  and no measurements to take.  Zone out knitting is all about turning the brain off and letting the yarn, needles, and hands get to work.

Q:  What do you get when you mix simple, repetitive cables with yummy yarn?
A: Zone Out Knitting!

p.s.  Have you checked the Peaceful Palms knit along list recently?  Did you notice that Tracy was already blue?  Did you know you turn blue when you finish your gloves?   Yup, Tracy was the first to finish her gloves, she was under a tight deadline to go on vacation!

That's a fabulous cable pattern! Where'd you get it?

Nona, my zone out knitting is *not* cables. Do you cable without a cable needle? I haven't quite mastered that. Great scarf! Brown Sheep yarn, right?

Lovely cables, Tracy is finished already! I haven't even chosen my yarn yet!

Zone-out knitting sounds fabulous. My zone out knitting this week has been figuring out patterns, and really, that doesn't do the trick. Your scarf looks great!

Zone out knitting can only be stocking stitches for me ... cables? Either they would twist in various directions or they would be of various length! LOL!

Yep! I'm in total agreement that "zone out" knitting is NOT cables. The proof is when I attempted cables while watching Thursday night's play-offs (pics of my World Series Sweater including the botched cable are on my blog). I'm leaving the botched cable, but have since learned that cables are not "zone out" knitting for me :-(

Great Scarf!

I finially learned to cable without a cable needle, and now I can zip along with minimal thought. Right in time too, the sofa ate all my cable needles.

Hey, I still have to weave in ALL those ends, but I finished knitting my gloves today! Woohoo! My very first pair of gloves, ever. Cool, huh?

I finished my first pair of fingerless mitts! So fun, here's the link:

And I agree that that is simply a beautiful scarf, but cables aren't my zone out knitting quite yet. Maybe someday but I don't think I'm there quite yet! :)
