09 march, 2007

I've really been in an improvisational mood recently.  The gold strip at the top of this swatch is new for me.  I wanted to figure out how to create the illusion that the knitting had been sliced -- quilt style -- and the gold strip inserted.  I think it works.

Yarn: Rowan's Wool Cotton & Rowan's Cotton Glace.  In my opinion, Rowan does color right.
Needles: US 4
Stitch: Garter Stitch
Techniques: Short Rows, Log Cabin Construction, Intarsia

So incredibly Gee's Bend. Jazz. The movement and energy here simply rocks.

Me too. Your swatches are reminding me so much of those quilts that appeared on a set of USA postage stamps. They were so pretty that I wanted to keep them all insteading of affixing them to envelopes.

Looks great and it does what you wanted it to do. Excellent choice of slicing color.

It SO works and it's such a brave choice of colour. Everything else sings around it.
