My favorite Elizabeth Zimmermann book is her Knitter's Almanac. Anyone who's read it must agree that EZ was the original knit blogger, opting for pen and paper over the not-yet-readily-available computer. It's only $7.95 and worth every penny. The April chapter, "Mystery Blanket: Weaving", is my inspiration for today's swatch. This swatch is almost one of the blanket squares -- almost because I misread the directions and ended up with swirling eyelet holes instead of diagonals. I think perhaps I'll try again tomorrow

It's perfectly imperfect and what EZ would call "unventing".

Aha! but this is so much more dynamic! while the blanket's sq is- well sq- this is flowing. its "mistakes" like this that propel us forward in our designs! (no pun intended...hahahaha)

I really like the swirling eyelets. Any chance I could get you to tell me what you did differently to get this cool effect?

I couldn't agree more. I just bought the Alamanac this weekend and settled in on the couch with it and a cup of tea. I was surprised and delighted to see how "blog" like it was. I love her references to the "old man".

My favorite EZ book! A blanket made with your squares would be very cool and modern.

I love me some Elizabeth Zimmerman! Her books are assisting me through some mittens right now!
I second the request to know what you did differently to get the swirls instead of straight lines.
And a major THANK YOU for this blog! It's one of my daily Must Visits. I'm learning so much from you!

Very pretty, even if mis-read. I bought this book last autumn on your recommendation, and now I need to read it! I've been caught up in Elsebeth's Lavold's book on cabling, and I need to start swatching from that, and start reading EZ.

Gorgeous swatch -- I love the swirling pattern. I'd also love to know what you did to get the spiral.
