Knit Off Round 1
I told you didn't I? Told you that I'm competitive? Yes? Well then, it should come as no surprise that on Saturday morning I jumped out of bed, ran to the computer, scribbled down the pattern for the first round of Knit Off, casted on, and knit like hell. Julie – aka Yarn Monkey – picked an excellent pattern for the first round. Uniscarfity designed by Jodie required practice -- and several rounds of ripping -- to get the Brioche Stitch right and a little inginuity to get the borders flat. Once down, the stitch pattern had a nice rhtymn and the scarf grew quickly.
Since we were working at varying gauges, the scarf was declared "done" after 72 repeats of the contrasting color. So even though I "finished" the scarf for the competition, I'm going to keep knitting to make it longer -- Knitter's Choice.
In this initial round, Julie grouped us into pools of about 6-7 knitters. The first knitter in each pool to finish moves on to the 2nd round -- a round of 16. Onto Round 2 for nona -- starting March 17th.
Go, Nona! Lovely colors on that scarf. Looks like it'll match the bag you made with the round appliques, or am I imagining things?

It appears as though you changed the pattern so color 1 is edge on one side, color 2 on the other...what did you do on the ends?

I love it! This is the first Uniscarfity I've seen finished. I had no idea it was picked for the Knit Off. Great colors.

Congratulations. It really does look great.
Is there any website where us interested spectators can follow the Knit-Off, see who's taking part and who's competing, and virtually cheer? After all, an athletic event is partly about us fans!

Ungh, brioche stitch, one of my knitting nemesis. I do not like a stitch pattern that I have to rip 4 rows out to correct a mistake in the row just below. Well done, you bested that challenge. Well knit, very well knit!

I love your color choices and I love the brioche stitch, but you can't make a mistake as Sonia mentioned and when you do you pay the price.
What a nice visit we had on Sunday and It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I am so pleased you enjoyed my shop. I hope to see you soon. We are knitting every Sunday.

Wow - you are intense! Congrats on your win! I can see I made the right decision not to enter this one.

Oh goodness, something else I need to knit. Thanks for the inspiration ... I think. Your scarf is fantastic! =)

It would appear that you and I will be squaring off in round 2. Group M vs Group N. I'm quaking in my boots already. Not just because you finished your brioche scarf ahead of me, but because you're Nona of nonaknits for heaven's sake!
And being that I've got tickets to Rod Stewart on the Saturday that the round 2 pattern comes out, I'm thinking up ways I can convince hubby that taking yarn and needles to the concert would be a good thing.
