Who can resist knitting baby sweaters? They're fast, fun, and just so darn cute!
This one is for nona-niece-due-in-March. If she's anything like her parents, she'll be a San Franciscan with a sense of style -- one who will appreciate a sweater in non-traditional baby colors. The sweater is a modern take on Elizabeth Z's classic baby sweater from Knitter's Almanac. The garter stitch yoke and edges are knit in Koigu and the lace pattern in Rowan's 4-Ply Wool. These two yarns mix well together, having a similar weight and twist.

Great color combo. Hooray for non-traditional babies!

this is just gorgeous - when you say a modern take, did you actually change the pattern much? i'd love to make this.

wonderful - love the choice of yarns. It is great to see beautiful work not restrained by "baby" color yarns.

What a great color combination - I need to knit one myself and have yet to try that one. The lace pattern is just beautiful, just like flower petals. I have an expecting friend, who is hoping for a girl, maybe the act of knitting the sweater and thinking feminine thoughts will make it so.

That is one of the nicest baby sweaters I've ever seen - I love the non-traditional colours - and they won't show the spit-up like insipid pastels.

This is so pretty, the contrasing yarn is a good idea.

What a wonderful idea for EZ's baby sweater. It's one of my favorites to knit for babies but it never occured to me to change the yoke color! Brilliant!!
