24 hours ago I thought to myself, "Hey nona, what about that baby hat you have to finish by Wednesday?" Yikes, had the weekend really slipped by without any -- zilch -- baby hat knitting. Perhaps I'd been a bit too preoccupied with fingers and gloves! No worries, I had the pattern and I had the yarn and -- poof -- I have the hat, finished and ready to go.
What a fun, satisfying project. There was a little bit of everything -- picot cast on, increasing, decreasing, bobbles, and last but not least, ear flaps. The ear flaps are very cleverly designed.
When in use, the tie is threaded through a small button hole in the ear flap.
If the ear flaps are not needed, they are buttoned up into the inside of the hat. Pretty nifty!
Aww! What a sweet little hat! Love the color and everything else!

I have a question about guage.
I would like to knit a yoke sweater from the book knitting without tears. Should I takke my gauge based on a stockingnet swatch or the color work swatch that will be used in the yoke?

I think my new neice would be so pretty in a hat like that! Guess I'll have to find some nice yarn and get going, too.

Nona - I've just begun my adventures in the blog community - it's been fun reading adventures in knitting from everyone else -
I too have been knitting gloves/mittens - I will post the finished pair tonight.
Question is - how do I get my blog out there in the community?
I'm trying to make on-line knitting friends.
Thanks for your help!

Aaaah, this is such a cute hat. I've knit three of them. Although I left off the ear flaps and used ribbon instead. And I must say, it's a real crowd pleaser at showers.

That is the best hat pattern I've ever seen. And yours looks great! What a nice gift.

I love the hat, perfect for a new granddaughter. I too am a new blogger, and love seeing all the great ideas on the web. Problem is, I don't need a new project just now! Thank you for posting it.
