Peaceful Palms Knit Along

What fun we've had knitting socks!  But my friends, it's time to realize there is life after socks and it's called gloves.  I've never knit a pair of gloves before and am ready for the adventure.  Are you?  Don't worry, if you're not up for the tedium of 10 fingers you can make fingerless gloves!

Let me ask you, what fun is an adventure without someone to share it with?  nona says, "no fun."  So, let's have a knit-along -- a "Peaceful Palms Knit Along" -- because all peaceful palms deserve a pair of hand knit gloves.  Here are the rules -- feel free to ignore any or all:

  1. The knit along begins now and ends January 31st
  2. Leave a comment or send nona an email if you wish to join
  3. Knit a pair of gloves -- fingered or fingerless
  4. Have fun and try something new

That should do it.  I'm going to spend a few days gathering glove references and patterns.  Let the games begin!

I had so much fun with the t-shirt KAL, so I want to join this too! Anything would be new to me, since I've never knitted a mitten in my life. I see.... Noro! I see....shades of blue and brown... I see...that I better go dig out the IK where i saw a how-to on mittens!

I've never knit a pair of gloves, but have been waiting for an opportunity to change this fact. Count me in!

Oh, count me in! I need some gloves -- both the fingered and fingerless varieties.

You know, I've only ever knitted one pair of gloves and, while cute, they didn't keep my hands warm enough. Cold air worked its way in through the holes, and anything else would have made them too bulky to wear. But do you know what revelation occured to me as I was driving home the other day? (And, don't ask me why since I wasn't really thinking about knitting gloves at the time) But . . . I could knit a pair of fabulous looking gloves and then buy a pair of those silk glove inserts and slide them inside, secure with a stitch or two at the base of each finger and -- voila! Handknit with a built-in wind-break that's slim and non-bulky! I may just have to join just to try the idea out!
