Confessions of a Yarn Snob
I hate to admit it, but nona's a bit of a yarn snob. Plop me down in a yarn store and I'm consistently drawn to the expensive, luxurious yarns. Willing to pay a bit more? Why not for such beautiful yarn? Up until yesterday -- being the yarn snob that I am -- I had virtually shunned washable wool. I'm not sure what got into me, but I bought a ball of Cascade 220 Superwash and went home to swatch. Well, this washable wool is wonderful -- soft, stretchy and not the least bit itchy. What can I say besides, "Lesson Learned".
Superwash has its place in a yarn snob's fiber vocabulary. :) If it stretches when washed, you can pop it in a drier until it is just damp, it ought to go back to size.

Try some Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted and I promise you'll totally change your thinking about superwash! While I love the cascade 200 superwash, Lorna's comes in a bazillion more colors and is a bazillion times softer. Get thee to the nearest Lorna's dealer.

Cascade 220, in its superwash or regular varieties, is my desert-island yarn. It comes in a bazillion colors, is soft, and it's very affordable.

I love me some 220, but I've never actually tried the superwash. I really should since, while I do tend to reach for pricier yarns, I don't have the money for them and I really don't have the patience to hand wash many things.

Nona -- This is off the subject, but where do you get the Catherine Lowe kits and how can you subscribe to her publication? I can't find this online, but I did a search and know that you took a class from her and wrote a great post about it. Thanks for your help.
